I started this post a full moon ago. I couldn't finish the post for a variety of reasons.
A lot has happened in the past month. Because of the global virus pandemic, my upcoming living situations were cancelled and I was offered a temporary house for which I am incredibly grateful. If you are on earth, you understand what an unusual experience we've been having. Everyone is dealing with a new reality and no one knows what life will look like when the virus has run its course or we've developed immunity or a vaccine has been developed, tested and distributed, or...
This is why it's taken me an entire moon cycle to get back to and finish this post.
Tonight is the Full Pink Moon in Libra.
I've lived by the moon for decades but in earnest since I spent a year on a remote strip of beach in South Carolina. I could walk to the shoreline at night, lay back and see the Milky Way and more stars than I could comprehend. One of the reasons I kept a keen eye on the moon was because I planned my daily life by the tides because when the tide was high, there was no beach for walking. I had a tide app on my phone that I would check every evening to structure my following day.
Why live by the moon? It's an elegant way of marking time on earth and other things.
Here are my top reasons for living by the moon:
Watching the moon is a way of marking time on earth. It's good to know that the moon is waxing or becoming full. This helps us keep in mind that things on earth are swelling to some crescendo. That the tide is rising. That my body will feel more swollen as we move closer to the full moon.
I don't think that the lunar experience is the same for men as it is for women. I'm sure that men are affected in some ways (if only through their relations with women!) but I can only speak to my experience as a woman. I swell as the moon waxes and slim as the moon wanes. When I menstruated, it was usually quite close to the full moon. Makes sense. Water courses through our physical tissues. The human body is 57-60% water. The tides swell with the waxing moon. It only follows that our human bodies do as well.
In looking back from one new or full moon to the previous, we can assess what's transpired in the cycle we've just passed through. I find that it's tremendously helpful to pause for reflection and to have a framework for review.
The cycles of the moon provide opportunities for completions and new beginnings. As humans being on earth, I think that we're designed to create. If you acknowledge that thoughts become things and you recognize that the average brain has anywhere from 25,000 to 50,000 thoughts a day, then it sort of follows that some of those thoughts are dedicated to creating something or other.
If you have any experience with creating just about anything (and I would be hard pressed to believe that you have no experience with this) then you know that some things are manifested and some things are not.
I, personally, find great solace in being able to hang onto the spiritual or cosmic or metaphysical hook of the moon cycle. If one idea does not work out or if I am wanting to bring one sort of experience to a close, I have an opportunity to close that off with the full moon.
With a new moon, I have the opportunity of intending a new beginning. Twelve new beginnings in one year! I like the idea. It's one of my favorite gifts that comes with living by the moon.
With the energetic help of the moon, I can close the door on past thoughts and experiences. I can set intentions for new experiences. How fabulous is that?
Paying attention to the lunar cycle grounds me to planet earth. Where would our moon be without earth? For that matter, where would any of us be without earth? Watching the moon helps to remind us that we are alive on planet earth. If we look to the moon and the sky and the stars, we have the opportunity to be aware that our feet are planted on the earth. That we are just a spec of consciousness on a planet with one satellite hurtling through space revolving around a sun. One sun of many, many, many suns.
It's good to be on earth. Earth is a gorgeous planet. You and I are on earth at this fascinating moment. What a literally wonderful experience. Especially figuring in our emotions! What a laugh.
Finally, the moon is beautiful, even in it's seeming absence. At the new moon, we can more clearly see the universe beyond. We can see the other planets in our system and the stars beyond. Or what were once stars.
Living by the moon enriches our human lives and reminds us that we are mere and magnificent on earth. Just for a little while.
Find the focus and strength to start working on your project again.
Mercury is in retrograde. I don't mind because I love periods of rest and self-reflection. Actually, I need these periods of rest and self-reflection.
But I've been through a long stint of rest and self-reflection which was sorely needed and now, I am making my way, slowly, back to the surface of doing work again. It's a challenge to set up a new schedule and to stick to the program even though I am right at the very beginnings. At least it feels that way. In fact, I have the general structure in place and at this time, it's about writing, researching, reaching out and taking baby steps. I like to leap tall buildings in a single bound but am old and experienced enough to know that what looks like a single bound is a process that includes many, many baby steps.
I started Mercury retrograde by dropping my iPhone in the toilet. After fishing around for what seemed like forever, I finally pulled it out and fortunately there was no real water damage, just a loss of sound as the thing dried out. Lucky!
Today, I wrote a long post here only to have my finger swipe the touch pad of my laptop sending the words into the ether. Oh, well. Begin again.
In a nutshell, I am dealing with a difficult client who is, frankly, abusive. I have 22 days left of this assignment and am determined to not let her get the best of me and to keep my head above water. However, this morning I woke to a set of nasty emails and messages. It took me a couple of hours of self-coaching and a good, long walk to rearrange my attitude and then I was met with a splattered mind when I just wanted to get down to work. So I pulled out one of my Tarot decks and did a reading.
Eventually, I intend to make regular Tarot readings a part of this overall project but not yet.
I am sharing all of this with you because you may find my situation familiar in some way and the enlightenment I gleaned of help.
I do not look to Tarot readings for predictive answers but rather as a way of helping me communicate with my higher self or with the collective unconscious. I consider the Tarot to be my wiser, higher friend connected to source and the enlightenment that is sometimes (often) not clear as I flail about on the material plane.
Today, I asked for help with finding the focus and strength to start working on building this project again. If you work for yourself or ever find yourself in the weeds when you need to buckle down again, this reading is for you, too.
Here's the query: Help me find the focus and strength to start working on building this project again.
Here's my interpretation:
These five cards from left to right represent — One: your situation, Two: your thoughts and expectations, Three: hidden forces, Four: guidance, and Five: the outcome.
Let's examine the above cards, then, based on this set up.
XIX The Sun. Find your focus and strength within yourself. It's there and it's big and bright and full of joy. Tap into it!
The Five of Pentacles. Your thoughts and expectations are inhibiting you. You have a serious lack mentality that includes lack of self-worth, fear of failing completely, victim mentality. All you have to do is to look within (the stained glass windows) to find the bright joy, focus and strength that lies within (the church). Get over your victim and lack mentality and find the light within.
The Queen of Cups. You are overwhelmed with emotion. You have come far and reached the status of queen but you are dwelling on your emotions and they are running away with you (and your focus and your strength). Turn away from your focus on emotion and get a grip!
The Three of Cups. Find your emotional joy. It's there. Look at your overall situation and your life so far. Look at what you've experienced and accomplished and celebrate. Joy is the emotion to find in the cup of the Queen. Use it. Keep that lovely yellowy sun color in your mind and let it light up your solar plexus chakra. That's where your power resides.
I The Magician. There it is! Work your way through these challenges of perceiving yourself through your ego. The challenge is merely temporary. The game is long. You have all of the tools you need to make magic happen. So get to it! You don't need the gift of an Ace. You ARE the ace.
I couldn't ask for a better reading. I love the Tarot and I do look forward to sharing my readings with you on a regular basis eventually. I hope that this helped you. Leave a comment below to let me know if it has.
Love and light. Till the next post...
